1. What does the title mean? How does the title and the contrasts within it provide symbolic summary of the film?
1. A guy from the streets that becomes millionaire, it gives a features of symbolism making you think how a guy from the streets can become millionaire.
2. Early in the film we see the young Jamal dive into a Latrine pit to steal a glimpse at a visiting movie star. How does his single-mindedness to see this movie star reveal his determination? What other examples do you see in the film of his determination ?
2. Because if he is able to throw himself to a latrine pit just to see his favorite movie star, then what make us think that he would do other things to get what he want with a lot of effort. And an example of that is how he search for Latika, until he find her he didnt rest or nothing.
3. In the film the theme of destinyt is a central theme. What does it mean that all Jamal desires is just out of his reach ?
3. That Jamal efforts to get what he wants are so much bigger that does desires of him can beat destiny

I think that your answers are good but in a certain way incomplete, in the title it doesn't exactly means a poor guy is always going to become a millionaire, but in this certain case he did and probably is the last time...
ReplyDeleteI agree with your second answer. But in the third one I think that the theme of this movie is that because Jamal was one of the poorest guys on the city, then his goals were too difficult to obtain, but for other people it wasn't, even though, on the movie the destiny gave it to him in order to increase the suspense because we never thought he would reach it and the emotion.
